Achieving Sustainable Development Goals 2030 in Jakarta through Sustainable MICE Practices

As global concerns over climate change and carbon emissions intensify, the MICE industry must embrace sustainable transformation. Aligning with the Paris Agreement, Net Zero Carbon goals, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Jakarta plays a significant role in Indonesia’s journey towards sustainable MICE practices. As the nation’s capital and economic hub, Jakarta has the opportunity to adopt globally recognized sustainability frameworks, including ISO 20121: Sustainable Event Management, into its MICE sector. This will enhance Jakarta’s reputation as a responsible global event destination and strengthen Indonesia’s competitiveness on the world stage.

To realize this vision, fostering global collaboration is key. Jakarta must actively engage with international organizations, governmental bodies, and the private sector to drive advancements in sustainable event management. Emphasizing carbon-neutral strategies, circular economy principles, and social inclusivity, Jakarta can support the broader transformation of the MICE industry in Indonesia. By implementing sustainable practices, Jakarta will strengthen its position as a world-class event destination and contribute to a more resilient, inclusive, and environmentally responsible global MICE industry, aligning with the SDGs for 2030.
